Jet2 is a British low-cost airline. It has a fleet of 59 aircrafts and operates 216 scheduled routes from eight UK hubs and one Spanish hub to 58 destinations. The airline is the fourth largest scheduled airline in the UK. Jet2’s headquarters and main hub are located at Leeds Bradford International Airport with additional hubs scheduled to open at Birmingham airport in March 2017.
Jet2.com also operates an overnight cargo-carrying fleet for Royal Mail and offers a charter service through its Jet2charters brand. Sister company Jet2holidays offers ABTA and ATOL protected package holidays with accommodation, transfers and Jet2.com flights to 47 city and sun destinations. The airline changed its name to Jet2.com just a few months before their first leisure flight in February 2003. Despite being a small low-cost airline, they have won numerous awards.
When am I entitled to compensation?
According to EU Regulation 261/ 2004 airline passengers are entitled to compensation in the event of flight delays and cancellations. This also applies to over-bookings and bumped flights.
Under which circumstances am I entitled to compensation?
There are several possibilities:
- You departed from an airport within Europe on any given airline (also includes non-EU airlines) or
- You arrived at an airport within Europe on a European airline
- Your flight was delayed at least three hours
- Your flight did not take place
- Your flight was over-booked. As a result there was no seat available.
- You missed your connecting flight. As a result you arrived at your destination airport with a delay of more than three hours
Who can make a compensation claim?
Any person in the world has the right to lodge a claim for compensation. You do not have to be an EU citizen. The only requirement is that one or more of the above listed scenarios apply.
