In Germany Condor is a popular airline with a long-standing tradition. And yet delayed flights, cancellations or overbookings do occur. This proves irritating to affected passengers. However, in a lot of cases passengers are entitled to compensation. refund.me comes to the assistance of passengers in asserting their rights against the airline.
Condor is the fourth largest airline in Germany. Its base airport, as well company headquarters are located in Frankfurt. Another important hub is in Munich. The limited company behind the airline is Condor Flugdienst GmbH, which was founded in 1955. In 1959, Deutsche Lufthansa AG took over. Since 1997 Condor has been a subsidiary of the tourism company Thomas Cook AG. Condor is therefore primarily known as a charter airline that flies to the most popular tourist destinations, such as Mallorca and Tenerife, and also Las Vegas and Havana. In 2012 6,7 million passengers took to the air with Condor. In the same year the company achieved a turnover of € 1.46 billion. The number of employees was at around 3000.
When am I entitled to compensation?
According to EU Regulation 261/ 2004 airline passengers are entitled to compensation in the event of flight delays and cancellations. This also applies to over-bookings and bumped flights.
Under which circumstances am I entitled to compensation?
There are several possibilities:
- You departed from an airport within Europe on any given airline (also includes non-EU airlines) or
- You arrived at an airport within Europe on a European airline
- Your flight was delayed at least three hours
- Your flight did not take place
- Your flight was over-booked. As a result there was no seat available
- You missed your connecting flight. As a result you arrived at your destination airport with a delay of more than three hours
Who can make a compensation claim?
Any person in the world has the right to lodge a claim for compensation. You do not have to be an EU citizen. The only requirement is that one or more of the above listed scenarios apply.
