If you’re anything like me and fly a lot despite the fact that you absolutely can’t stand airplanes, then these tips are for you. Take a few minutes to note down a few of these suggestions for next time you fly to make your journey a little less stressful.
Check-in online, before you get to the airport
This one’s a no-brainer, and I really don’t understand why people still don’t take advantage of this ultimate time saving travel hack and end up queuing at the check-in desks. Especially if you’ve got no check-in luggage, you can breeze straight through security to the gate in no time and simply flash the barcode on your smartphone e-ticket!
Put your liquids into a sealed plastic bag while you’re packing
Seriously. Most airports in Europe are strict on this. Get organised and do it before to save yourself the time and stress.
Pack a small “plane bag” inside your bigger carry-on bag
This could include things such as: book, glasses, earphones, eye-mask, earplugs, gum, pen and diary (well, that’s what I put in mine in any case). This way you can simply remove your small plane bag from inside your carry-on luggage when you board the aircraft and put the bigger bag in the overhead lockers, knowing that you have everything you need for the journey.
Download the airline app
Yes, it can seem annoying and unnecessary if you don’t regularly fly with the same operator, but these apps are there for a reason. They make the whole check-in process a lot easier and will ensure you’re always kept up to date on flight information, such as flight delays and cancellations.
Take an empty water bottle with you
This is my personal favourite. Airport water is exorbitantly overpriced because they know we have no other option. But you are actually allowed to take water bottles with you through security, just as long as they’re empty before you get there. Once you’re through, head to the bathroom or water stations (depending on which airport you’re at) to fill it up and save yourself the extra cash.
